Community Needs Assessment Coordinator
Employer: Parya Trillium Foundation
Job Term: Contract, Part-time, November 15, 2011 to March 15, 2012
Location: York Region
Reports to: CNA Advisory Committee
JOB SUMMARY:
To perform a community needs assessment for Farsi-speaking newcomers in York Region. The CNA
Coordinator will be responsible for conducting a thorough needs assessment funded by Citizenship and
Immigration Canada (CIC) that includes planning, implementation strategy, execution and producing a
final report of the findings. The CNA Coordinator is an independent contractor of Parya Trillium
Foundation and will receive supervision, support and information from the Advisory Committee. The
suitable candidate must be qualified to implement, coordinate and execute the project from start to finish.
The purpose of the information gathered from the CNA will be:
- To report on the opinions, needs, challenges, and assets of the Iranian-Canadian newcomer
community within York Region.
- To report on the challenges faced by the Farsi-speaking newcomers in accessing social services in
the region.
- To build awareness of the existing Farsi-speaking community and how to better serve them.
- To improve upon the effectiveness of existing programs and services.
- To understand what services and programs are needed but not accessible or existing.
- To improve awareness on the services available to Farsi-speaking newcomers.
- To improve access to the services available to Farsi-speaking newcomers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Familiar with the Farsi-speaking community
- Understanding of the non-profit sector and newcomer services
- Demonstrated experience in short-term project management in community settings
- Fluent in both English and Farsi
- Experience writing reports and analyzing data.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Must be able to coordinate volunteers
- Good analytical, organizational and evaluation skills
- Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Familiarity with CIC and Government of Canada funded initiatives is an asset
